WND research institute selected for Jiangsu's first cohort of high-level R&D institutions

The Wuxi Institute of Special Foods and Nutritional Health, located in the Wuxi National Hi-Tech District (WND), has been acknowledged as a growth-stage institution in Jiangsu province's inaugural selection of high-level research and development institutions. Notably, it is the only biomedical institution among the five selected in Wuxi.

Jiangsu is building a network of high-level R&D institutions to support emerging industries, including future networks, synthetic biology, embodied intelligence and atomic manufacturing. The program aims to foster leading, benchmark and growth-stage institutions that can drive technological innovation and industrial development.

Growth-stage institutions are selected for their ability to meet local development needs, backed by high-caliber talent, strong research facilities and significant growth potential. They are expected to become key nodes in regional innovation networks.

Established in 2021 through a joint initiative by WND and a team from Jiangnan University specializing in biology, nutrition and health, the institute focuses on biomanufacturing, biomedicine and the broader health sector. Its work spans the development of core raw materials, functional products and technology innovation services, helping bridge research and practical applications.
