The 2026 Integrated Circuit (Wuxi) Innovation and Development Conference opened on Aug 31. Three provincial key laboratories, backed by over 500 million yuan ($74.5 million) in investment, were launched at the event, while the Jiangsu Integrated Circuit Industry Alliance was established. The 14th Semiconductor Equipment, Materials and Core Parts Exhibition, running alongside the conference, covered more than 70,000 square meters and attracted over 1,300 companies.

The 14th CEPEA Semiconductor Equipment Annual Conference opened in Wuxi on Sept 1, drawing more than 2,000 industry leaders and business representatives. The event featured a summit forum, an exhibition and more than 20 specialized sessions, creating a platform for industry players to exchange ideas, tackle emerging challenges and explore new opportunities as the semiconductor sector continues to evolve.

CETC Electronics Equipment signed an agreement on Sept 1 to establish an advanced packaging equipment base in WND. The first phase will see the installation of equipment for wafer thinning, bonding and other key processes in the district. The project will also build platforms for joint innovation, procurement, market collaboration and equipment maintenance.

SJI-SEMI signed an agreement on Aug 30 to establish a new R&D and manufacturing base for thin-film deposition and etching equipment in WND. The project is set to further strengthen Wuxi's semiconductor supply chain and support the development of locally made equipment.

The Institute of Electronic Design Automation of Peking University held its 2026 Management Committee/Board meeting on Aug 31, reviewing its 2025 work and approving its priorities for 2026. The meeting also finalized the implementation of a new funding model that shifts government support from direct grants to equity investment.

WND leaders recently visited local eldercare and childcare facilities to learn more about services for elderly residents and young children. They also held a meeting to review current needs, identify priorities and map out the next steps for improving care and support services across the district.

The 18th IC Packaging & Testing Industry Chain Innovation Development Summit opened in Wuxi on Sept 1. From cross-industry technological integration to breakthroughs in advanced packaging, the summit is looking at new ways to strengthen the competitiveness of China's semiconductor packaging and testing sector.

A new AI-powered integrated care pilot zone officially got underway in WND on Sept 1, marking a new step toward smarter, more connected senior care services. Jointly developed by Wuxi Medical & Health Group and Jiangxi subdistrict, the project will transform a nearly 10,000-square-meter facility at Xinwu District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital into a high-quality rehabilitation and care center with 180 beds.

WND officials reviewed progress in rural development and called for a more practical, results-driven approach during a recent visit to Hongshan subdistrict. The focus is on high-standard farmland, tech-enabled agriculture, better rural infrastructure and higher incomes for farmers.

The 14th Semiconductor Equipment, Materials and Core Parts Exhibition, held from Aug 31 to Sept 2, brought together 81 companies from WND – about 60% of Wuxi's total exhibitors. Industry leaders such as Leadmicro Nano Technology, AMTE, and Unicomp showcased their latest technologies, highlighting the district's growing strength in semiconductor equipment and homegrown innovation.

Wuxi is getting 10 S-Instant Spaces, where XR technology will turn imagination into something you can see and feel. The vision is being driven by XR innovator S-Instant, which was named among Forbes China's Top 10 AI Innovative Application Enterprises in 2025. The company has established its headquarters in WND and opened its AI + Spatial Intelligence Innovation and Practice Base in Wuxi (National) Software Park.

AIM Pharmaceutical International has earned a spot on Forbes Asia 100 to Watch 2026, recognized for its innovative drug development targeting neurodegenerative diseases. WND has been working closely with the company, while also bringing its wholly owned subsidiary to the district.

JD Property won the bid for an industrial plot in WND on Aug 26 to build RoboBase. With a planned area of about 112,000 sq m, the project will focus on robots and core components, building an integrated service platform for the robotics industry and developing a robotics innovation center and smart manufacturing demonstration base in the Yangtze River Delta region.

Among the 11 patents from Wuxi receiving an Excellence Award at the 26th China Patent Awards, four were from WND, the highest number among all districts and counties in the city. The winning companies include Leadmicro Nano Technology, Unicomp, Little Swan Electric, and Wuxi Huarun Shanghua Technology.

Four projects recommended by WND stood out at the 2026 China Jiangsu Talent Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, taking home two first prizes, one second prize and one third prize. That's half of all the winning projects from Wuxi, highlighting the district's strong pool of entrepreneurial talent and its growing strength in innovation-driven industries.

The Guanhu Community Health Service Station in WND's Xin'an subdistrict began welcoming patients on Aug 31, offering services spanning general practice, chronic disease management, traditional Chinese medicine, weight management, and appointment-based care. Serving five nearby communities, the new facility brings everyday healthcare closer to home.
