A Japanese semiconductor equipment maker is set to establish a new R&D and manufacturing headquarters in Wuxi National Hi-Tech District, also known as WND, further strengthening the district's semiconductor industry ecosystem.

The signing ceremony was held on Aug 12. TGG plans to build a comprehensive headquarters focusing on wafer inspection, cleaning and grinding equipment.

Established in 2016, TGG specializes in chip-related equipment, with core products including fully automated wafer prober stations for 8- to 12-inch wafers, cleaning machines, grinding equipment, and metrology and inspection equipment.

Its products have passed sample testing by leading companies across the world, with some products already entering mass supply. The company currently has orders worth more than 1.2 billion yuan ($177.93 million).

Hayashi Kunihane, president of TGG, said WND enjoys a strategic location at the Yangtze River Delta region, while its well-developed integrated circuit (IC) industry ecosystem and complete supply chain provide fertile ground for the company's growth.

WND has developed a comprehensive IC industry chain covering chip design, wafer manufacturing, packaging and testing, semiconductor materials and equipment, and supporting services. Its IC industry accounts for about one-ninth of China's total industrial scale, according to local authorities.

The district has also been ranked second nationwide in overall strength among China's IC industrial parks for four consecutive years, underscoring its growing appeal to global chip firms.
