Atlas Copco on April 22 launched operations of its new compressor and power technique factory on Ximei Road in Xinwu district, Wuxi, marking a new step in the company's long-term investment and localization in China.

Headquartered in Sweden, Atlas Copco is a leading global industrial group. Its subsidiary, Atlas Copco (Wuxi) Compressor, serves as one of the company's global manufacturing centers, comprising both a compressor technology park and a power technology park.

To further expand production capacity at its Ximei Road facility, the company initiated construction of a plant expansion project in 2025. The newly launched facility will focus on mobile compressors, generator sets, lighting towers and energy storage equipment.

Once fully operational, the plant is expected to add an annual production capacity of 10,020 compressors, 5,000 generators and 150 energy storage systems. It will also elevate the Ximei Road site into the company's largest power technology base outside of its headquarters in Belgium, strengthening its competitive edge and industry leadership.

The project is also set to inject fresh momentum into Wuxi's efforts to build a leading intelligent equipment manufacturing cluster.

Atlas Copco is among the earliest, most profitable and most influential foreign-invested enterprises in Xinwu district, also known as Wuxi National Hi-Tech District, with cumulative investment in the city exceeding $1 billion.

Andrew Walker, senior executive vice-president of Atlas Copco and president of its Power Technique business area, described the project launch as an important milestone that underscores the company's long-term commitment to both China and Wuxi.

He added that the company will continue to deepen its localization strategy by increasing investment in manufacturing, research and development, talent cultivation and supply chain capabilities, aiming to deliver more innovative and efficient products and solutions to both the Chinese and global markets.
