A new high-horsepower turbocharger developed in Wuxi National Hi-Tech District, also known as WND, has been launched for the global market, highlighting the strength of the district's advanced manufacturing ecosystem.

Wuxi Cummins Turbo Technologies unveiled the product during its 30th anniversary celebration. The same day also marked the 20th anniversary of its longtime partner, Wuxi Vane Wheel Engineering, Cummins' first casting joint venture worldwide, which also contributed to the new product.

Often described as the lungs of an engine, a turbocharger improves airflow, boosting power output while helping reduce fuel consumption. The newly released Cummins P7 and Q7 next-generation turbochargers are designed for high-horsepower engines used in heavy construction machinery and large generator sets.

Liu Dongliang, general manager of Cummins China's engine components and software business, said the new products deliver improved performance and stability while increasing efficiency, supporting the global transition toward greener industrial technologies.

The company has established a complete manufacturing system for high-horsepower turbochargers in Wuxi, covering locally sourced raw materials, locally produced core components and local product delivery.

A global leader in power technology and a Fortune Global 500 company, Cummins has operated in WND for three decades. Since 1996, cumulative sales of diesel engine turbochargers produced in the district have reached 22.9 million units. More than half of the engineers at the site also participate directly in global product development.

Founded in 2006, Vane Wheel has developed highly efficient coordination with Cummins over the past two decades through technical collaboration.

"From the moment a design drawing is issued by Cummins’ Wuxi plant to the final delivery from Vane Wheel, the entire process can take as little as eight days," said Gu Xin, general manager of Vane Wheel.
