Park Sung-taek, the new president of SK China, led a delegation to Wuxi, Jiangsu province, for an inspection visit on Feb 9. Both sides held in-depth discussions on deepening cooperation and expanding into new areas of collaboration.
During the talks, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing key projects efficiently, with a focus on building a resilient local industrial ecosystem. By combining Wuxi's solid industrial foundation, abundant talent pool, and well-established policy framework with SK's technological expertise, operational experience, and capital strength, both parties aim to unlock broader development opportunities.
Since SK Group entered Wuxi in 2005, SK hynix Semiconductor China has completed seven rounds of investment, totaling more than $23 billion. The project has become the largest single foreign-invested project in Jiangsu province and SK Group's largest investment in China.
In addition, the SK Medical Complex project, with a total investment of 3 billion yuan ($434.42 million), is progressing steadily. It includes the construction of SK Wuxi Hospital, which is planned to have 500 beds and is expected to be finished this year.
IRCAD China, co-founded by SK and IRCAD, a French research and training institute, has already begun operations in Wuxi and is China's first private medical training institution specializing in surgical robotics.
