WND sets record for foreign trade in August

Wuxi New District's foreign trade hit a record high of 67.7 billion yuan ($10.11 billion) in August, surpassing 60 billion yuan in monthly imports and exports for the first time and accounting for nearly two-thirds of Wuxi's total.

In the first eight months of this year, the district's foreign trade totaled 423.8 billion yuan, up 44 percent year-on-year, accounting for 60.9 percent of the city's total.

The district's strong industrial foundation underpins the strong performance. With a national transformation and upgrading base for integrated circuit foreign trade, WND has developed a complete industrial chain covering chip design, wafer manufacturing, packaging and testing, translating the strength of its industrial clusters into growing export momentum.

From January to August, the integrated circuit sector recorded foreign trade of 214 billion yuan, soaring 106 percent year-on-year and making up 85 percent of the district's foreign trade growth.

The "new new three", referring to artificial intelligence, robotics and innovative pharmaceuticals, are also becoming new drivers of the district's foreign trade growth.

In the AI industry, HeYangTek, which specializes in the research and development of memory chips, has seen its products widely used in AI terminals, wearable devices and other applications. The company exported 35 million chips, with export value surging 300 percent year-on-year, making it an emerging player in the AI memory chip market.

In the robotics sector, Motorevo has developed a fully self-developed integrated joint module covering the entire technology chain. With annual production capacity approaching 1 million units, the company is seeing strong demand from overseas markets.

In the pharmaceutical sector, Dizal (Jiangsu) Pharmaceutical has launched its self-developed innovative lung cancer drug in the United States. The company has also reached an exclusive global licensing agreement with AstraZeneca.

The district's trade network is expanding alongside its industrial growth. During the first eight months, WND added 11 new trading partners, bringing the total number of countries and regions involved in its import and export activities to 204.
