A completion ceremony for the new facility of Leadchem Semiconductor Technology was held on Aug 5, marking another step forward in the development of Wuxi National Hi-Tech District's semiconductor industry.

Founded in December 2022, Leadchem is a leading Chinese company in high-purity chemical packaging materials. It provides solutions for the semiconductor, compound semiconductor, photovoltaic, and flat-panel display industries, with capabilities spanning the entire process from design and R&D to machining, surface treatment, cleaning, and packaging. Its high-purity metal containers for electronic-grade precursors hold the largest market share in China.

In 2022, the company launched the WND project, with a total investment of 520 million yuan ($77.09 million). The project is expected to begin operations in the third quarter of 2026. Once fully operational, it is projected to produce 50,000 units of storage and transportation equipment annually, generating more than 1 billion yuan in annual sales.

Wang Yanqing, chairman of Lead Intelligent Equipment, one of the world's largest suppliers of new energy manufacturing equipment, which is also based in WND, said Leadchem's packaging and transportation systems are a critical link in the wafer manufacturing supply chain, helping to ensure material purity and process safety.

The integrated circuits industry is one of the most competitive sectors in WND. The district's IC industry has surpassed 180 billion yuan in scale, accounting for one-ninth of the national total and ranking second nationwide.
