Wuxi officials visited key public welfare projects on July 27 to review their progress and met with frontline workers braving the summer heat, expressing appreciation for their dedication. The visit highlighted the continued efforts to improve public services, care for those working in high temperatures outdoors, and enhance residents' sense of well-being, security, and fulfillment.

The Third Xinwu District Congress of the CPC opened on July 29. Cui Rongguo, Party secretary of the district, delivered a report on behalf of the second CPC Xinwu District Committee titled Taking the Lead in High-Quality Development, Building a World-Class High-Tech Park, and Continuing the Journey to Set an Example in Advancing Chinese Modernization.
At the First Plenary Session of the Third CPC Xinwu District Committee on July 31, Cui Rongguo was elected Party secretary of Xinwu, while Gu Guodong and Zhao Hua were elected deputy secretaries. On the same day, the First Plenary Session of the Third CPC Xinwu District Commission for Discipline Inspection was also held, with Huang Jianping elected secretary of the commission. The meetings called on Party organizations and officials across the district to implement the Party congress's guiding principles and deliver tangible results through dedicated public service.

The 13th Plenary Session of the Second CPC Xinwu District Committee was held on July 25. The Standing Committee of the CPC Xinwu District Committee presided over the meeting, which reviewed the arrangements for the upcoming leadership election. Cui Rongguo, Party secretary of Xinwu, briefed attendees on preparations for the Third Xinwu District Congress of the CPC and explained related agenda items.
Ahead of Army Day, WND held a support event for local military units on July 28, honoring the longstanding tradition of mutual support between the military and local communities. The district and its subdistricts presented care packages to partnered units and extended greetings and appreciation to service members for their dedication.
A delegation led by Liu Ting, vice-president of Harbin Institute of Technology, visited WND on July 28. Highlighting the strong alignment between HIT's strengths in aerospace, intelligent manufacturing and artificial intelligence and the district's leading industries, both sides expressed their commitment to deepening collaboration across research, industry and real-world applications, accelerating the commercialization of cutting-edge technologies, and fostering win-win innovation.
The report to the Xinwu District Congress of the CPC was released on July 29. Since the second Party congress, the CPC Xinwu District Committee has united and led officials and residents across the district in effectively responding to a wide range of challenges. The district has remained at the forefront of high-quality development in Wuxi and Jiangsu, fulfilled major goals, and made solid progress toward building a world-class high-tech park.
WND advanced investment attraction and project development in tandem in the first half of 2026, signing agreements for 74 projects worth over 100 million yuan ($14.8 million) each, with a combined planned investment of 96.8 billion yuan. Of these, 67 were industrial projects, accounting for more than 90% of the total. The district also delivered solid progress across the project pipeline, with filing, construction commencement, investment completion and project completion rates reaching 71.67%, 57.42%, 53.24% and 35.14%, respectively.

Changxin Memory Technologies debuted on the STAR Market of the Shanghai Stock Exchange on July 27, with its shares surging 471% at the opening and its market capitalization reaching 3.31 trillion yuan. Among its investors is WND-based Shang Capital, which participated in multiple funding rounds. Together with PICC Capital Equity Investment and China Merchants Capital, Shang Capital made a strategic investment in CXMT, supporting the development of China's integrated circuit supply chain.
A record 76 companies in WND have earned spots on Jiangsu's 2026 list of advanced smart factories – more than any other county-level region in the province, for yet another consecutive year. The district now counts 142 provincial-level advanced smart factories, reinforcing its leadership in intelligent manufacturing and driving industrial transformation forward.
The 2026 Golden Eagle Awards for Venture Capital Institutions were announced on July 24. Standing out among more than 300 leading VC, PE, industrial capital, State-owned investment and technology companies nationwide, WND Venture Capital received the Outstanding Investment Institution in the Semiconductor Industry award, in recognition of its strong track record and expertise in investing in hard-tech innovation.
Original performances took center stage at the 3rd WND Jade Flying Phoenix Showcase for Outstanding Performing Arts which recently concluded at the Bodu River Cultural Center. Around 100 performers from eight subdistricts presented works spanning music, dance, drama and folk arts, highlighting the creativity and talent of the district's community arts scene.
