Infineon doubles down on Wuxi with potential expansion push

Herbert Diess, chairman of the Supervisory Board of Infineon Technologies, led a delegation to Wuxi on July 21 for discussions on expanding cooperation.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to further strengthen collaboration across local industrial and supply chains, with the goal of attracting more companies from Infineon's industrial ecosystem to establish operations in Wuxi.

Recognizing the opportunities presented by the rapid development of artificial intelligence, the two sides also explored deeper cooperation in emerging sectors, including embodied AI, commercial aerospace, new energy vehicles, and electric two-wheelers. Future collaboration will focus on joint technology research, platform development and resource sharing.

During the visit, Diess and his delegation toured Infineon Technologies Wuxi, an embodied AI company, AI² Robotics, as well as electric vehicle manufacturer Sunra and Liangxi Sci-Tech City Industrial Park. The delegation also attended a symposium on commercial aerospace projects.

Infineon Technologies is one of the world's leading semiconductor companies, with a comprehensive presence in China covering research and development, manufacturing, sales, marketing and technical support.

Since establishing its presence in Wuxi in 1995, Infineon and the city have maintained a close and long-standing partnership. Today, Infineon Technologies Wuxi has grown into one of the company's largest global manufacturing bases for insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBT), which are widely used in electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, consumer electronics and industrial applications.
