Executives from K11 by AC visited Wuxi on July 7 to discuss advancing the K11 Select project and expanding collaboration across the culture, tourism, retail and lifestyle sectors. The partnership aims to bring more debut stores, product launches, exhibitions and creative experiences to Wuxi as the city builds a distinctive consumption ecosystem.

The Wuxi Branch of Ruijin Hospital launched an initiative on hospital-university collaboration and neuroscience on July 3. Two new brain health platforms were unveiled, strengthening research and clinical innovation in brain-computer interfaces, sleep medicine and neurological care while boosting high-quality healthcare development in the region. 

Hyatech signed an agreement with WND on July 7 to develop and manufacture key engine components for large passenger aircraft. The project will help build a leading base of aerospace engine parts and further strengthen the region's fast-growing aviation supply chain.

As Typhoon Bavi approaches, WND is stepping up its preparedness. On July 7, officials convened a flood and typhoon response meeting to coordinate flood prevention efforts, strengthen risk monitoring and early warnings, and ensure swift action to safeguard residents and minimize any potential impact.

WND officials visited local smart terminal companies on July 6 to hear about their R&D progress, market expansion and business needs, while pledging stronger support to help accelerate innovation, tackle development challenges and drive the next wave of industrial upgrading.

The eighth meeting of the Commission for Overall Law-Based Governance of the CPC Xinwu District Committee was convened on July 6. WND leaders reviewed progress in advancing law-based governance, outlined their priorities for the year ahead, and conducted reports on legal responsibilities to further enhance good governance.

WND kept major projects on a fast track in the first half of 2026, completing 14.27 billion yuan ($2.1 billion) in investment and surpassing the halfway mark for the year's overall target. With five of six planned new provincial projects already underway, the district is accelerating industrial development and laying a solid foundation for long-term, high-quality growth.

WND has unlocked a new channel for high-end medical equipment services! The city's first bonded maintenance shipment outside a special customs supervision zone has arrived at GE HealthCare's Wuxi base. It also marks the trial launch of Wuxi's first company approved for the policy, adding fresh momentum to the city's high-level opening-up.

BASiC Semiconductor, backed by a fund managed by WND Venture Capital, was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on July 8, becoming the first Hong Kong-listed silicon carbide chip company. The IPO highlights the growing strength of China's third-generation semiconductor industry and marks another success story for WND's expanding portfolio of listed tech enterprises.

The National Science and Technology Award Conference, the general assemblies of the members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the 11th national congress of the China Association for Science and Technology were held in Beijing on July 8. Four WND-based companies contributed to award-winning projects spanning deep-sea equipment, chip design, precision optics and biotechnology, showcasing the district's growing strength in both fundamental research and industrial innovation.

On July 9, 17 tech companies from the district were named to the GEI China Potential Unicorns 2026 list, accounting for 42.5% of Wuxi's 40 shortlisted firms – the highest among all districts in the city. A testament to WND's vibrant innovation ecosystem and fast-growing tech strength.

Four projects from WND have been shortlisted as 2025 National Exemplary AI Application Cases by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology – the highest number in Wuxi. Spanning AI infrastructure, industrial solutions and product innovation, the selected cases highlight the strong momentum of WND's AI+ initiative.

Two premier clubs have moved into the Wuxi Olympic Sports Center, including the city's first world champion-led badminton club and a well-established local table tennis club. Together, they will bring elite coaching, professional training and more opportunities for residents to experience world-class racket sports.

A forum titled "Reality and Reflection: Grand Canal Culture Through the Lens" was hosted in WND on July 9, bringing together experts to explore visual narratives of the iconic waterway. A cultural exhibition also showcased innovative designs that breathe new life into the Grand Canal's enduring heritage.

WND has strengthened its defensive capability against Typhoon Bavi. Three newly upgraded floodgate and pumping station projects are now fully operational, enhancing flood drainage, water regulation and urban resilience. With a modernized water management system in place, the district is better equipped to protect residents and keep the city running safely through severe weather.

In Wuxi, a UNESCO City of Music, music isn’t just performed on stage – it's shared by the whole city. Nearly 1,000 residents gathered at Wuxi Symphony Hall in WND on July 4 for a choral gala, filling the world-class concert hall with beloved songs, The Beautiful Taihu Lake and Dear You.
