Singapore's SCG Cell Therapy signed an agreement on April 17 to launch its Wuxi Innovation Center. Powered by the company's proprietary GianTCR platform, the center will develop high-affinity, tumor-targeting TCR therapies for solid tumors — boosting Wuxi's fast-growing cell therapy sector.

Atlas Copco launched a new expansion at its Ximei factory in WND on April 22. At full capacity, the new facility will produce 10,020 compressors, 5,000 generators and 150 energy storage systems annually — making the factory the largest power technique base outside Belgium.

Wuxi's first cultural consumption fund was launched on April 18, with a total scale of 500 million yuan ($73.14 million). It will focus on consumer sectors, cultural IP, and the digital economy, aiming to accelerate the deep integration of culture and digital innovation.

A new smart cleaning robot developed by WND-based Techinao is drawing attention for its efficiency and versatility. The AI-powered Roboneo C99 is equipped with a 150-liter water tank and capable of cleaning an area of 5,300 square meters per hour. It also includes security patrol capabilities and human-machine interaction functions.

China's first 3D animated feature inspired by the Jiangsu Football City League, I Want to Play Football, is heading to cinemas soon. The project is backed by Wuxi Zhurong Cultural Technology, based in the Wuxi Smart Sports Industrial Park in WND. The park has recently become the highest-level official partner of the Wuxi division of the 2026 season of the league.

National recognition once again for WND! The IOT-Park has been chosen as one of the first national SME public service demonstration platforms – one of only 16 nationwide and the only one in Jiangsu province. This selection is a strong testament to the district's industrial strength and commitment to service excellence.

The 2026 Jiangsu High-Quality Data Set Development Conference and Data Annotation Industry Matchmaking Event was held in WND on April 23. During the event, WND was designated as the Wuxi AI Data Annotation Industry Pilot Zone, marking its upgraded role as a core hub for the sector.

WND presented its first round of housing subsidies for talent on April 21, becoming the first district in Wuxi to deliver 100 subsidies. WND is supporting a full spectrum of professionals — from PhDs to skilled technicians, from junior college graduates to bachelor's degree holders — making home ownership more accessible for those driving innovation.

The 2026 WND World Book Day & Reading Week kicked off at Page One Bookstore in Station Park on April 20. A district-wide reading map featuring libraries and reading spaces was unveiled, alongside a stamp-collecting challenge encouraging residents to explore these spots. A night reading series, book fair, art exhibitions, and hands-on cultural experiences created an immersive space where reading became a part of everyday life.

The Wuxi MixC West Zone Brand Preview Event was held on April 23, unveiling six themed lifestyle zones and a strong lineup of flagship first stores. The zone has so far attracted over 200 brands, with more than 60% being city-level or above first stores. The new commercial landmark is set to open in late June, promising a refreshed retail and lifestyle experience for residents of WND.

Construction has begun on the upgrade of the Xinhua Road-Yanxia Road intersection, the first project in the third batch of WND's three-year congestion relief program. The initiative targets 37 bottlenecks in three phases to ease traffic pressure across the district. The final batch of projects will begin soon and is expected to be completed by the end of July.

The pipe organ at the Wuxi Symphony Hall has entered the final tuning and voicing stage and is set to debut in June. Custom-built for the venue, it features a striking design measuring 14.7 meters in width and 8.1 meters in height, with an innovative asymmetrical façade — the first of its kind in Asia. The instrument includes 66 stops and 4,859 pipes, along with four manual keyboards and one pedal keyboard, covering five playing divisions. In both scale and complexity, it ranks among the most advanced pipe organs in China.

WND has welcomed two new departure tax refund stores, as two local companies have recently completed the filing process. This expansion will further improve the shopping experience for overseas visitors, offering more convenient and efficient tax refund services in the district.
