The Wuxi-Hong Kong Technology and Industry Innovation Integration Conference took place in Wuxi National Hi-tech District (WND) on Aug 9, featuring four sessions on expanding advanced manufacturing globally, integrating finance with industry, fostering education collaboration, and showcasing innovation projects.
The two regions agreed to strengthen cooperation by combining Wuxi's industrial innovation strengths and business-friendly environment with Hong Kong Polytechnic University's research talent and global partnerships. The goal is to develop new ways to merge technology and industry innovation, attract key talent, and accelerate the transformation of cutting-edge technologies into real-world applications.
The PolyU Wuxi Technology Innovation Research Institute signed multiple agreements with local companies. Notably, AIM Pharmaceutical's neuro-nutrition project for treating neurological diseases secured support from Hong Kong's Innovation and Technology Commission, with funding of up to HK$100 million ($12.74 million) over five years, and plans to set up R&D and sales centers in Wuxi.
Several industry-academia partnerships were also formalized. LongShine Technology and the research institute formed a provincial consortium to integrate AI into the power energy sector. Guohong Tools partnered with the institute to establish a doctoral workstation and joint lab, focusing on ultra-precision manufacturing, laser processing, and intelligent manufacturing equipment.
The conference also marked the official launch of the PolyU Wuxi Entrepreneurship Center, aimed at connecting the university's talent pool, Hong Kong's financial resources, and Wuxi's industrial development to foster innovation and growth.
