Swedish industrial giant Atlas Copco broke ground on a major compressor and power technique project at its Ximei Road subsidiary in Wuxi National Hi-Tech District (WND) on June 25.
The expansion includes the construction of a new 20,000-square-meter facility, which will be capable of producing 10,020 compressors, 5,000 generators, and 150 energy storage systems annually. It will also integrate after-sales services and spare parts sales to enhance business operations.
Upon completion, the Ximei subsidiary will become one of the largest R&D and production hubs for Atlas Copco's Power Technique Business Area outside of its headquarters in Belgium.
Hendrik Timmermans, president of Atlas Copco's Portable Air Division, stated that the new investment reflects the company's strong commitment to its China strategy. He noted that the Wuxi plant will serve as one of the group's key export hubs, bringing more high-quality products to market. The facility will also deploy a new ERP (enterprise resource planning) system and gradually roll out a series of digital applications, reinforcing Wuxi's role as one of Atlas Copco's most advanced manufacturing bases globally.
Zhang Jinwei, head of Wuxi National Hi-Tech District, praised Atlas Copco's 31-year development journey in the area, highlighting its commitment to localized development and cooperation with the district. He pledged continued support, top-tier services, and a world-class business environment, encouraging Atlas Copco to lead industry innovation and attract more high-end projects and cutting-edge technologies to WND.
