  • The newly upgraded Hongshan Site Museum in WND reopened on May 17, just before International Museum Day! The museum now features exciting displays that mix traditional and modern styles. It uses cutting-edge tech like 3D without glasses, AR, holograms, and digital avatars to bring artifacts to life, make history feel closer, and fully engage visitors.

  • The signing ceremony for a digital nomad village project was held in Hongshan, WND on May 17. The project aims to create a youth-oriented hub featuring creative blocks, art spaces, B&B clusters, and smart services like drone delivery and zero-carbon tech, fostering a vibrant, nomad-friendly ecosystem.

  • Deep Blue Aerospace launched its headquarters and liquid rocket assembly base in WND on May 18. With 1.5 billion yuan in investment, the site will assemble reusable, oxygen/kerosene-fueled Nebula rockets using modular design and collaborative robots. At full capacity, it will produce 10 rockets and 100 engines annually, generating 2.9 billion yuan in revenue and powering Wuxi's commercial space industry.

  • The 2025 WND Dragon Boat, Canoe & Paddleboard Race took place on the Bodu River on May 17. Over 350 participants from 35 teams – spanning foreign enterprises, private firms, and local communities – joined the thrilling competition.

  • Silicon photonics, a rising star in optoelectronics, is gaining traction in WND. The district is building a competitive full-chain ecosystem, driven by leading enterprises and strengthened R&D collaboration. In 2024, the silicon photonics industry in WND saw output soar to 1.8 billion yuan ($249.97 million), up 112.82 percent year-on-year.

  • Project Aura, the world's first AR glasses powered by Android XR, was unveiled at Google I/O 2025 on May 21. Co-developed by Google and WND-based Xreal, it marks a major milestone in spatial computing and Wuxi's debut as a core partner in shaping the global XR ecosystem.

  • WE MedTech, based in WND, recently secured FDA approval for its YOUMAGIC radiofrequency therapy device. Together with its NMPA Class III certification, this marks a major milestone in the global expansion of China's high-end medical technology.

  • WND continues to shine with many units earning national honors for their commitment to civility on May 23. Jinghu Community in Xin'an sub-district was named a national civilized unit, and the Wan Qixing family received the national civilized family award. Dafangqiao village, Qifangqiao village, and Wuxi Murata Electronics also retained their titles.

  • Jiangsu's Industry and Information Technology Department recently announced the proposed 2025 list of advanced smart factories, with WND's 62 companies recognized — the most among all county-level regions in the province. This record-breaking achievement highlights WND's strength as a hub for intelligent manufacturing.

  • About 100 employees from SK Hynix's South Korea HQ visited Wuxi on May 19, touring the local plant and exploring cultural sites like Meili Ancient Town to learn about the city's rich heritage.

    Since 2005, SK Hynix has established deep roots in Wuxi, becoming SK Group's largest investment in China and Jiangsu's top foreign-invested project in terms of investment, technology, and growth speed. The company has also supported local development through projects like the SK Wuxi Hospital, SK Hynix Wuxi Foreign Language Primary School, and a public welfare foundation.

  • Shixin Experimental School in WND is set to open its new campus in Fall 2025. In collaboration with Wuxi Jinqiao Education Group, the school will offer 36 middle school and 42 elementary classes, creating a high-quality education model in the district.

  • Wuxi's first smart tidal lane recently debuted on Wudu Road in WND. The 80-meter lane features a robotic barrier that deploys during rush hours to separate left-turning and oncoming traffic, then retracts during off-peak times. This new setup significantly improves traffic flow.
