Wuxi National Hi-Tech District (WND) has experienced a strong beginning to 2025, with its high-tech industries' output value rising by 8.25 percent year-over-year in the first quarter. These industries now make up 81.66 percent of the district's total industrial output above designated size, marking the highest share in Wuxi.
Currently, WND hosts 1,858 high-tech enterprises, accounting for more than 25 percent of the city's total. The district is enhancing its innovation capability, having recognized 11 new municipal-level R&D institutions in 2024. Additionally, it tops the city in the count of institutions featured in the provincial monitoring list for new-type R&D entities.

Recently launched major innovation hubs include the Peking University Yangtze River Delta Future Technology Institute for Life and Health and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Wuxi Research Institute. At the same time, the Peking University Wuxi EDA Research Institute has opened a branch of the national EDA Technology Innovation Center, making it the city's sole provincial-level innovation consortium.
WND is distinguished by its ability to attract global talent. In 2024, more than 1,200 highly qualified foreign professionals commenced employment in the district, representing over 70 percent of the city's total workforce. Furthermore, the number of national, provincial, and municipal-level leading talents in technology innovation and entrepreneurship within WND is ranked first in Wuxi.
