AstraZeneca kicked off construction of its new $475-million small molecule drug factory in WND on May 8. The site will feature cutting-edge continuous direct compression tech, sustainable packaging lines, and full digital integration. It is expected to reinforce AstraZeneca's global supply chain and power the high-quality growth of Wuxi's biopharma industry. To date, AstraZeneca has invested over $1 billion in Wuxi, making the city its hub for production, distribution, sales, and innovation in China.
WND and Wuxi Sunan International Airport Group held in-depth talks on May 6 to deepen their partnership. Together, they will build an air cargo terminal in the district's Comprehensive Bonded Zone, while advancing airport economy, low-altitude aviation, and retail innovation.
German company VEM launched its 150-million-euro ($168.4 million) high-end motor project in WND on May 8. Focusing on the development of high-end motors, new power control systems, and offshore wind power generators, the factory is expected to generate 1.5 billion yuan in annual sales revenue. As of 2024, 42 German-invested companies had been established in WND, with total investment reaching $2.21 billion.
