This Week in WND (2025/04/07-2025/04/11)

WND held a meeting on April 6 to review progress made in 2024 and plan for 2025. The district is rallying efforts to shoulder greater responsibilities and drive high-quality development, opening new horizons for Chinese modernization.

Panasonic Energy Wuxi launched mass production of its large-diameter battery project on April 11. The batteries, used in e-bikes, construction machinery, and the medical field, are expected to add around 400 million yuan ($54.84 million) in annual output value.

Big win for XREAL! The WND-based company claims Gold at the 2025 Edison Awards with its spatial computing chip for AR glasses, X1. Already integrated into the XREAL One, the chip powers cinema-quality displays anytime and anywhere. With strong tech power and support from WND, XREAL is reshaping the future of AR.

Two cultural teams from WND – Hefeng Jinyun Art Troupe and Jinghu Culture Club – have been selected as candidates for Jiangsu’s outstanding mass cultural teams for 2025 by the province’s Department of Culture and Tourism. With 215 art groups, including six at the provincial-level, WND hosts over 1,000 cultural events for the community every year.

Wuli Art Space in iPark launched  its first exhibition on April 11, open until April 25! A touring show of more than 50 masterpieces from Modern Art Museum Jiangsu has arrived at the Wuxi (National) Software Park. Don't miss this art feast!

Linghu Park Road, a new ecological link in WND, spans 4.7 kilometers and covers 250,000 square meters of greenery. Connecting 16 industrial parks, two residential areas, and six parks, this “green corridor” integrates eco-friendly space, community leisure, and industrial synergy.

The new Meili Middle School Second Campus has passed its inspection and is now ready for handover. The expanded school will increase its capacity, with 48 classes at the first campus and 36 at the second, accommodating about 4,200 students. This will greatly ease local enrollment pressure and meet the community’s demand for quality education.

April 10 marks the 3,309th anniversary of Taibo’s birth, honored at the 2025 Taibo Commemoration Ceremony in Hongshan, WND. As the founder of the ancient Wu state, he is revered for his virtue, and his legacy lives on in Wuxi as a symbol of Jiangnan culture and civic pride.
