A voluntary tree-planting activity was held on March 10 at the Grand Canal Science and Technology Park in the Wuxi National Hi-tech District, or Xinwu district, to celebrate National Tree Planting Day, which fell on March 12.
More than 60 people from government departments and foreign companies in the district, such as Kubota, Mobis, GE Healthcare, and Siemens, took part in the activity and planted a variety of trees, including Chinese tallow, hackberry and dawn redwood trees.
Xinwu district has been making efforts to increase its green spaces in recent years. In 2022, 55 hectares of green fields were added and 15 public parks were built or renovated. The green area per capita in the district currently stands at 15.04 square meters.
This year, Xinwu district plans to build 15 more parks, including the Grand Canal Science and Technology Park , and implement projects to improve the landscapes of its industrial parks, entrances and exits of highways, as well as areas under flyovers.

The Grand Canal Science and Technology Park, which features intelligent and digital technologies, will be the first low-carbon park in Wuxi.
