High-quality development prioritized in WND

Wuxi National High-tech District hosted the High Quality Development Conference on Nov 18 in celebration of the 30th anniversary of it establishment.

A number of municipal and provincial government officials, expats and scholar from well-known universities and institutions, as well as representatives from foreign-invested and local enterprises in the district, were invited to the event.

Hu Guangjie, vice-governor of East China's Jiangsu province, said in a video speech that the development and construction of the WND is a vivid example of the great achievements of reform and opening up. As a national high-tech zone, WND has been determined to forge ahead and strive to be a first-class zone in the past 30 years. The district has significantly improved its comprehensive strength, innovation vitality and living standards, putting it among the top 20 national high-tech zones in the country.

Cui Rongguo, Party secretary of WND, said that the district has developed into a hub of innovation, industry, talent and opening up. The district has been honored as an advanced zone for promoting high-quality development in Jiangsu province and ranked in the top five urban areas in terms of high-quality development in China for three consecutive years.

In the past decade, WND's per capita GDP has increased from 197,000 yuan ($28,238.27) to 315,000 yuan, ranking first among the province's urban areas. The total industrial output value above designated size has increased from 290.6 billion yuan to 555.45 billion yuan. The district's internet of things, integrated circuit, and biomedicine industries are flourishing.

In addition, WND's actual use of foreign capital has ranked first in the province for five consecutive years.
