100 major science and technology projects signed in WND

Agreements for a total of 100 major science and technology projects valued at about 10.71 billion yuan ($1.59 billion) were signed in the Wuxi National Hi-tech District on April 21.

Ten of the projects were signed on-site while the remaining 90 were signed via an online meeting.

Among the projects, 74 are focused on integrated circuits, internet of things, biomedicine, and high-end equipment, while 15 are focused on future industries such as artificial intelligence and the metaverse.

In addition, agreements for two projects were signed, each with an investment exceeding 1 billion yuan, four projects with over 500 million yuan in investment each will be carried out, and 31 projects attracted over 100 million yuan in investment each.

Twenty-one projects were led by investors from first-tier cities such as as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, with investment totaling 2.25 billion yuan.

The 100 signed projects are expected to generate a combined annual output of roughly 20 billion yuan, with average annual tax revenue estimated at 700 million yuan, according to officials.

These projects are also expected to entail an average annual R&D investment of about 1 billion yuan and an additional 1,000 patent applications each year. The projects will attract about 5,000 talents and create 8,000 jobs, each of which will help promote the high-quality development of the district.
