Three new school buildings in Xinwu district, Wuxi were put into use on Feb 14.
Meili Experimental Primary School, Meili Kindergarten, and the second campus of Gaolang Primary School will provide better educational resources to residents living nearby, according to officials.
The third campus of Wuxi Meicun Experimental Primary School - Wuxi Xinwu Meili Experimental Primary School - held its opening ceremony with 680 students.
The new campus surprised students and teachers with various high-tech teaching facilities such as touch-screen classroom badges and eye-protection lamps. The touch-screen classroom badges can display students' photos and videos of each class, today's climate and the latest news via the internet.
Zou Li, principal of Wuxi Xinwu Meili Experimental Primary School, said that with an investment of about 200 million yuan ($31.58 million), the new school covers an area of 37,062 square meters and has a construction area of 35,196 sq m. It consists of 48 classrooms for 2,160 students.
According to the local government of Xinwu district, a total of eight schools will be built or reconstructed this year to admit 5,000 more students.
