A signing ceremony for Weifuautocam's new core components research and development center and manufacturing headquarters was held in the Wuxi National Hi-tech District on Nov 12.
In August 2005, the US-based Autocam and Weifu Hi-tech Group Co Ltd invested $42.75 million in the building of the Wuxi Weifu Autocam Precision Machinery Co Ltd (Weifuautocam), which focuses on the R&D and production of core automotive components.
An additional investment of $30 million has been made this time to establish the Jiangsu Fuel Injection System Precision Parts Engineering Technology Research Center, introduce multiaxis machining and high-speed honing technology from the United States as well as build a new core parts production line. The new project is scheduled to begin production in 2022.
Cui Rongguo, director of the management committee of WND, said the zone is striving to build a modern industrial system, of which the auto parts industry will have an output value accounting for more than 60 percent of the city's total. The industrial chain in WND is now fairly complete due to the presence of companies like Bosch, United Automotive Electronics, Hyundai Mobis, and Denso.
Cui hopes that Weifu Group will continue to strengthen international cooperation, introduce more sophisticated technologies, and actively develop headquarters and R&D centers in the zone.
