Based on the advanced development concept, the Wuxi Science and Technology Park focuses on four main emerging industries, namely, sensor network, life technologies, clean technologies and modern service industry.
In 2011, the park generated a gross output of 28 billion yuan and contributed 3.3 billion yuan in taxes. In 2012, the gross output was 18.3 billion yuan with 2.3 billion yuan tax contribution, and in 2013, 20.2 billion yuan with 2.4 billion yuan in taxes. So far, it has completed incubation work for more than 1,200 enterprises, among which more than 600 are currently settled in the park.

The park boasts 81 high and new technology enterprises and 226 cutting-edge high and new technology products. In 2013, the park submitted 2,205 patent applications, which helped ensure the park to be approved as Intellectual Property Rights Pilot Zone in Jiangsu Province within the same year.
Additionally, it has attracted 21,000 talented personnel to work in the area, among which 21 are national level academics. Some 33 of them are listed on the Thousand Talents Plan initiated by the central government and 36 were rewarded as dual-creative talents by Jiangsu provincial government. With the launch of 11 workstations (city-level or above) for academics and 23 postdoctoral work centers in enterprises, all the innovation index readings of the park rank the top compared with those of other areas in Wuxi New District.
