Wuxi held talks on China-Czech economic and trade cooperation in the Czech Republic on Aug 22.

In order to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the Czech Republic and other Central and Eastern European countries, Wuxi convened the talkfest for the first time in the Czech Republic, attracting the participation of Czech enterprises and organizations.

The event was hosted by Xu Lixin, secretary-general of the Wuxi Municipal Government, and attended by Huang Qin, acting mayor of Wuxi, Wang Jingsong, commercial counselor of the Embassy of China in the Czech Republic, Martin Patel, director of the International Department of the Czech National Investment Bureau, and Peter Delefes, director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Chamber of Commerce.

Huang led an economic and trade delegation from Wuxi to the Czech Republic from Aug 21 to 23, aiming to promote bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Located in the heart of Europe, the republic is an important node country involved in the Belt and Road and a major gateway for China to access European markets.

It has convenient transportation and logistics facilities and traditional advantages in the application of new technologies, as well as a high-quality labor force, which creates a favorable environment for investment and cooperation with China.

As a highland of open economy, Wuxi has been maintaining good cooperation with the Czech Republic. Wuxi will create a superior environment for Czech enterprises seeking development in the city and encourage more Wuxi companies and people to go to the republic, said Huang in his speech.

China and the Czech Republic have achieved rich results in various fields under the initiatives of the Belt and Road and "16+1 Cooperation". Wuxi, a major city of the Yangtze River Delta area, has strong advantages in auto manufacturing and biomedicine. The Embassy will extend support to cooperation between Wuxi and the Czech Republic, according to Wang.

Wuxi and the European country are highly complementary to each other and enjoy huge potential for cooperation in competitive industries such as automobiles and environment protection. More exchanges should be carried out between local governments to expand trade and economic cooperation and realize mutual benefits, noted Huang during his visit to the Czech Republic's Ministry of Industry and Trade.
