Wuxi welcomes new bus station

(chinadaily.com.cn)Updated: 2018-08-23

Wuxi West Coach Station in Huishan district of Wuxi opened on Aug 17.

The station, covering an area of 17,300 square meters, includes a three-story main building with an area of 8,400 square meters and a 6,500-square-meter parking lot.

Together with the Huishan Railway Station, the coach station is expected to transform Huishan into a regional transportation hub and bring more convenience to residents and workers in the district.

The new station brings the total number of coach stations in Wuxi to four, with the other three located at Wuxi railway station, Shuofang airport and Xishan district. It will help further enhance Wuxi's transportation capability.

The station has launched 35 routes to the downtown city, Shuofang airport, and cities in Jiangsu, Anhui, Sichuan, Shandong and Henan provinces, with more than 60 coach departures daily. Apart from the airport run, the station's most frequently traveled routes are to Changzhou, signifying its role in connecting Wuxi and southern Changzhou.

In the future, the Yan-Tai-Xi-Chang-Yi Railway, South Jiangsu Intercity Railway and Wuxi Metro Line 3 will make stops at the West Coach Station to build an integrated transport network that links Wuxi more closely with Jiangyin and Yixing.

Meanwhile, governments involved have stepped up efforts to optimize the connection, transfer and evacuation systems for the station. Currently, eight bus lines can reach the station. Micro-circulation bus lines to Luoshe, Qianzhou and Yuqi towns are slated to be opened and several lines will be extended to cover more areas. In addition, lines to Jiangyin are being planned.
