(chinadaily.com.cn)Updated: 2018-08-17

Swedish Professor Jan-Christer Janson from Uppsala University, a globally renowned scientist specializing in protein purification, expressed his wish to bring more talents and technologies to Wuxi, during an interview Aug 13, as part of the 2018 High-level Talent Innovation and Enterprise Meeting.

In the interview, Janson said that he hoped to introduce more Swedish scientists and their innovative ideas to Wuxi. So far, he has introduced Bengt Ingemar Samuelsson, a Nobel Prize winner and globally known expert in inflammation, and Professor Maria Stromme, academician of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, who has established companies in Wuxi and started research into medicines.

He also expects to introduce the innovative minds of Sweden scientists into Wuxi to produce more high-tech products.

Besides, he also suggested that a scientific selection system should be created to identify truly useful innovations and innovative talents, a move that would promote Wuxi’s development.

He also expressed his wish to further the cooperation with Wuxi, noting that he and his research group had initiated research and development in new medicines. He said that their first new medicine had already entered the clinical research phase and in the next five years, at least five other medicines will be developed.
