New technology applied at Sunan Shuofang Intl Airport

A new technology that enables travelers to check their flight information immediately by swiping their ID cards was initiated at Sunan Shuofang International Airport, Wuxi, local media reported on August 13.

A screen equipped with the smart navigation display technology is located in the check-in hall of Sunan Shuofang International Airport, with flight information repeatedly displayed. An ID card reader is under the screen.

The smart flight information display screens, located in front of check-in counters 48, 54 and boarding gates 13, 14 of the departure hall, have been made operational after a one-month pilot run.

People can acquire not only the basic and updated data of flights but also customize the information by reviewing the weather of the previous, current and next airports on their journey through swiping their ID cards on the reader, which helps solve the problem of information asymmetry when there are flight delays, a staff from the airport said.

Providing information on aircraft type and seat distribution is one of the breakthroughs of the smart flight information display screen. Travelers can learn about the type, exterior and interior of the plane which they are to take, and select suitable seats.

What's more, the smart screens do not show any personal information of travelers in order to protect their privacy and safety.
